Interior Designer Jacob Laws of the Cure Design Group has landed a dream assignment.....decorating A Eugene Mackey, Sr. mid-century masterpiece in Ladue. I can't wait to see what he does! Check out my previous post about this house HERE.
I thought this was an interesting transformation....especially since it is in our neighbor, Kansas City. We all love before and after pics of home makeovers. Check out more pics and interior shots at The Contemporist blog.
Last night I attended the St. Louis At Home magazine party to celebrate the March/April issue that features seven hot interior designers. One of the celebrated designers is Jacob Laws. The party was held on the 25th floor of the fabulous Plaza in Clayton....currently listed by Steve Lange and Stephanie Oliver of Dielmann Sothebys. Come back tomorrow for some pics of the condo featured in the magazine!
The world does not need anymore asphalt. I think that this is a great solution to eliminate water run-off and it looks nice. I wonder if you could use some low sedums as a filler also? Find out more HERE.
When I saw this picture in the Design Crisis blog, I immediately thought of artist/friend Jeff Kapfer who is fixated on birds. Jeff, do you think you would get a good night's sleep in this bed? I also included a couple of Jeff's paintings inspired the the massive flocks of crows in the CWE. Have you seen them? It is spooky to walk down the street and see an entire tree covered in black birds.
I was looking at the Design Crisis blog and saw some wonderful gift ideas. Look at the BLOG (click where it says BLOG) and scroll down to earlier in the month.
A new on-line, free home decor and fashion magazine has just launched....Lonny Magazine. You need to take a look at it. I feel this may be the future for the magazine world. I thought it was easy to navigate and very slick.
Today I am giving you a parade of Contemporary homes all featured on the Contemporist Blog...though none are from St. Louis :( I wish we had more contemporary homes in St. Louis. I know that there is a hunger for them. I have gotten many inquiries from people who are moving to St. Louis from other cities who are looking to buy a contemporary home, though good ones in St. Louis are a rarity. Click HERE for one that is on the market now in U City.
I was looking at a house in U City earlier this week and snooped in the neighbors back yard to see their old BBQ center. There was a rage in 40's and 50's of building these elaborate "outdoor kitchens".....see the bottom pic...everything old is new again!
You just have to love some of the old bathrooms in University City homes. This one I stumbled into over the weekend and was in awe. It is so easy for a homeowner to just rip it out and put in something safe or even glaze all of the tile white. It takes some nerves to work with the existing tile and have a fun, exotic, quirky space that people look at and say ....cool!
I know it is approaching the end of the season for outdoor fun, though think about these planters for next year. During the day they are a crisp white and then glow in the evening!
We have seen the washer and dryer transformed from the plain white version to fun colors and designs....now someone is paying attention to the toaster.
This is the ideal gift that you can give yourself and your pet. In fact it looks like the only other piece of furniture you need is a bed. Find out more HERE.
Circa is opening this Friday at 4733 McPherson in the CWE. This exciting store features high-quality, mid-century furniture, paintings and accessories.
Also this Friday, Duane Reed is opening his new gallery on McPherson!
The Moonrise Hotel is now open in the Delmar Loop. I have to get by and look at it. Here is a link to a local interior designer's blog with some pics: BLOG
