The Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park will celebrate Mr. Wright’s 148th birthday with a benefit party, A Tribute to Trebor Tichenor, one of the great modern masters of ragtime, on Sunday, June 7, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on the grounds of Ebsworth Park.
A St. Louis native, Trebor Tichenor (1940-2014) was an internationally renowned performer, composer, and authority on ragtime music. For more than fifty years, he performed with the St. Louis Ragtimers and as a piano soloist. A ragtime concert at 3:00 p.m. will honor Trebor and feature musicians and family members, Virginia Tichenor, Andy Tichenor, and Marty Eggers, as well as the St. Louis Ragtimers. In conjunction with the event, a special exhibit of photographs, ragtime piano rolls, and memorabilia from the collections of Trebor Tichenor and the St. Louis Ragtimers will be on display in the house.
The event also honors Joanne Kohn, Chairman Emeritus, for her eighteen years of outstanding leadership of the organization. Joanne led the campaign to raise funds to save and restore the house and supervised its restoration to a level of excellence that brought national and international attention to the house.
Guests will also enjoy touring the Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park, one of the region’s architectural treasures. The accompanying outdoor celebration will include delicious party fare topped off with birthday cake in honor of Mr. Wright’s birthday.
Benefit Chairmen are Clare Davis and David Obedin. David Mesker and Dorothy Haase are Honorary Chairmen.
The party is a benefit to raise funds for projects and programs of the Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park, a non-profit organization that preserves the house as a museum for the public and educates the public about architecture and design. Completed in 1955 for Russell and Ruth Kraus, the house is notable for its architectural integrity and original Wright-designed furnishings. It is located at 120 North Ballas Road in Kirkwood, Missouri.
