Yesterday I went to the book signing for my Aunt Bunny's autobiography- Still Swinging in Wonderland.  The event was at Rue Lafayette was packed with Bunny enthusiast.  I wanted her to title the book- "Clowns, Cowboys and Convicts". The book is about her life as a debutante... life in the circus....marrying a Wyoming cowboy....living on our Missouri farm....and more....  I hear there is even an excerpt about the former Nazi Sex Slaves that she befriended while in the circus. Local Author, William Donius- Reading & Book Signing

Last Wednesday night I went to the reading and book signing for William Donius' new book- Thought Revolution: How to Unlock Your Inner Genius. It was a jammed crowd at the Schlafly Branch in the CWE. Bill's book is already ranked #4 on the New York Times' Bestsellers list!

David Sedaris- Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk

When I was on the beach of Puerto Vallerta last week I read David Sederis' Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk.  It is a very quick read of several short stories. The stories are all about animals...though these are not cute stories....all of the animals have some of the worst characteristics of humans though infused with the raw animal actions. This is not a book I would recommend to my mother. One story has singing leaches that live in the rear-end of a hippopotamus. If you appreciate a little twisted humor, you will love this book.

The Help

Unfortunately I don't get to read books that often. This is something I want to change and have a new goal to read at least a book a month.  When I flew to California over the Labor Day weekend, I had to find a book to keep me company for the four hour flight there and back. I purchased The Help by Kathryn Stockett. It is a wonderful book about the lives of "The Help" and Southern Women in Jackson, Mississippi in the 60's. I was so excited to recommend it to people, though everyone seems to have already read it.  I am always a little bit of a late adopter.  If you have not read it, borrow it from a friend or go buy it.

Reading it reminds me of being a boy and spending hours in the kitchen talking to Clemmie.  I used to look at Clemmie and say, "You make the best Jello!"
