The project to light the CWE Grain Silos along Highway 40/64 is moving along. This will be a long project, so don't expect to see anything flashing across the silos any time in the near future. What I really need is a catchy name for the project. Something that is clear though has some personality. If you have an idea, send me an e-mail here, comment on the blog or message me on Facebook.
Remember the goal is to make our silos look like this......
Over the summer I went to Quebec City with my brother and sons. I think there was some festival going on, though the whole city was full of life. During the summer months they had nightly Cirque de Soleil performances under a highway overpass and light shows on an enormous grain elevator on the waterfront. I thought....why don't we do nightly light-shows on our grain elevators! The ones right in the CWE along 40/61. Instead of reminding drivers that they were in the corn-belt.....we could excite them and show them a progressive and forward St. Louis. I really am going to pursue this project. Yesterday I contacted the company that owns/operates the elevators. I will keep you updated on this project....I will need help and support when it looks like this could be a reality. Below are some pictures of the Quebec City elevators lite up.
For years I have thought that the grain elevators along Highway 40/64 in the CWE were an eye-sore. They made us look like a "cow-town". I now think it would be a shame to tear down this piece of our landscape. The other day I walked up to them and was surprised that they are still in use. They are interesting and mammoth. You can see them from many parts of the city. I have a really cool idea that I am going to pursue....come back tomorrow and I will share it with you!
